Pacing yourself

  • Walk slowly at the start so you have energy to the end.
  • Drink little and often. Bring at least 1.5 litres.
  • Wear non-slip hiking shoes or sandals, especially in the rainy season.
  • Rest in each village. It is also a chance to chat with locals and see weaving.
  • Bring a headlamp. If the Inner Baduy trek runs long you may arrive after dark.

Don't forget

  • A rain jacket or poncho, a sarong or thin blanket, and spare clothes in plastic bags.
  • A torch or headlamp, personal medicine, and snacks.
  • Cash and a commuter-train card.
